This compact-sized system is the ideal choice for long-term automatic monitoring in behavioral experiments (e.g. drug testing). In conjunction with the available ultrasound microphones, the Avisoft-RECORDER software and the optional sound analysis software Avisoft-SASLab Pro, this system represents a fully integrated solution for various applications *. It is a complete out-of-the-box system with no need to struggle with potential interfacing problems between the various parts. The installation procedure is truly plug-and-play.

Other applications include field recording (e.g. ambient sound recording of bat echolocation calls or grasshopper songs) or passive localization of calling animals.

* Until recently, behavioral studies that required long-term ultrasound monitoring commonly used a simple technique that records the presence of ultrasound only. However, this technique has several limitations : narrow frequency range, no detailed information on the structure of the detected calls, preventing in-depth analysis of potentially various call types, difficulties in separating calls from environmental noise.
